Hello! I'm Herb. I've always made my living as an artist and I've always loved wood carving. When I began to work with wood sculpture, it was a homecoming. I used to build wooden craft art with my dad when I was a kid. He'd saw and shape and I'd sand. Now I'm the shaper. I love discovering the wood carving design of my pieces, curly haired chests and legs, noses and ears and jowls; they're all very dimensional. And then as I paint each piece, its individual personality comes alive. The wood working art of the piece is complete and the living rooms and dens and hallways and lobbies where the pieces go and live become their galleries.
